  • Our Logo

The 73rd IVSA Congress logo is conformed by elements that represent Peru. The guinea pig is a widely spread rodent since Pre-incas cultures, that is why our fluffy friend "Nuy" is wearing a handmade hat known as "Chullo". Also, the letters in colors red & white resemble our national flag and if you look closer, there is a traditional cloak at the back.

  • Our Theme

"Embracing tradition, envisioning the future"

We commemorate the 70 years of IVSA, appreciating all the history and success. That means learning from the our past and shaping the Veterinary Medicine of tomorrow.

Peru is a living example, a land where our ancient heritage merges with modern influences.

Highlight of Congress Activities

General Assembly Sessions

The General Assembly (GA) is when members gather to discuss and decide the future of IVSA.

During the GA, members vote on important issues and make decisions impacting IVSA's position when advocating for veterinary students.

The GA also plays a crucial role in the election of the next teams of IVSA officials, who will be responsible for the organisation's operations in the upcoming year.

During the congress, we vote for the Executive Committee (except president) and the officials.

The GA elects host for the annual congresses and symposia during the two annual meetings held 1.5 years in advance.

Lectures & Workshop

Multiple lectures and workshops will take place during the congress. Keep an eye out on our socials to discover all of them!

International Stands

The International Stands is the perfect opportunity for our delegates to showcase their MOs/LCs and universities.

Every country has its stand where they can inform other delegates of the different opportunities their MO offers.

This is the perfect opportunity to find a new externship place or a new partner to do a Group Exchange!

Cultural Evening

The cultural evening is an enrichment moment where the delegates can share their culture and learn about others. We ask the delegates to bring typical food and drinks from their country for the cultural evening. Also, traditional clothes and traditional dances/games are widely appreciated.

All delegates can then go from one table to another to learn more about the different countries, their traditions, and cultures at the congress.

Cooking Workshop

Dive into the flavors of Peru with our cooking workshop! Join us to learn how to cook Peruvian food, which will introduce you to the rich flavors and techniques of this unique culinary tradition.

Live & Silent Auction

Live Auction

The live auction is one of the two auctions carried out to generate funds for the Development Fund (DF).

We ask our delegates to donate an item from their country. This can be anything, for example, traditional clothes or pottery, everything is welcomed.

The auction starts, and any delegate can bid for the items. The last person to bid wins the item.

The whole amount collected during this activity goes to the Development Fund.

The DF allows many IVSA members to benefit from scholarships and grants. It also provides financial aid to IVSA MOs by donating books and educational material, covering their membership fees, and sponsoring projects that align with IVSA's mission.

Silent Auction

The silent auction is the other auction for fundraising.

We ask our delegates to donate an item from their country. This can be any kind of thing, from typical non-perishable food to handicrafts. Everything is welcomed!

In this activity, all our delegates walk through the different items and can start bidding by writing their bid on a paper. Once the time is over, the last person who bids on the item, wins it.

The whole amount collected goes to the Development Fund.

The DF allows many IVSA members to benefit from scholarships and grants. It also provides financial aid to IVSA MOs by donating books and educational material, covering their membership fees, and sponsoring projects that align with IVSA's mission.

Formal Dinner

Be ready to wear your best outfit!

There will be an elegant meal that everyone will enjoy all together, a great dinner to spend even greater moments.

White T-Shirt Party

The White T-Shirt Party will take place on our last evening. The delegates can wear or carry a white T-shirt and some pens during this activity. Then, they can go to each other and write/draw something on it.

In the end, this T-shirt will become a longtime and precious souvenir for everyone.

Our Mascot

The Guinea Pig (Cavia porcellus), also known as "Cobayo", "Conejillo de Indias" or "Cuy", it's a rodent native from the Andean regions of South America and domesticated around more than 3000 years ago. It has been mainly a food source in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. In other countries, such as Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil, it is more popular as a pet.

The breeding of "cuys" is very important for the poorest and most humble families because it has a low production cost, allowing them to generate an income and having a good quality source of food. The guinea pig meat is lean, with a fat content of less than 10%, high in protein, iron and vitamin B12, and low in cholesterol.

These animals are raised in a natural way, cared for in the warmth and tradition of the family.

Nuy

Our mascot is a cute cuy (Guinea pig) that represents the dichotomy between tradition and modernity.

He's been traveling around the world as a proud Peruvian and now he's waiting to welcome you all at home!
