IVSA hosts its annual congresses in July/August and symposia in December/January, offering veterinary students from around the world a unique platform to connect, learn, and collaborate. In 2025, the 74th IVSA Congress - SGA will be proudly organized by IVSA Taiwan, taking place in Taipei from August 4th to August 14th, 2025.

These events feature cultural activities, auctions, lectures, and workshops, creating an enriching and dynamic experience for all attendees. However, the heart of the event is the General Assembly (GA)—where members come together to shape the future of IVSA.

During the GA, members vote on key issues, set IVSA's advocacy direction, and elect the next team of IVSA officials, who will oversee the organization's operations for the following year. Additionally, the GA determines the hosts for future congresses and symposia, selecting them 1.5 years in advance.

By participating in the IVSA Congress and Symposium, veterinary students gain invaluable experiences, build international connections, and contribute to the advancement of the global veterinary community.

  • Our Logo

The 74th IVSA Congress - SGA logo captures the spirit of Taiwan while embodying global connectivity and veterinary excellence. At its core, the Formosan black bear—Taiwan's iconic and resilient native species—stands strong. Its outline seamlessly merges with the island's shape, while its signature V-shaped chest marking symbolizes both its unique identity and the vital role of veterinary professionals in bridging borders.

Taiwan's diverse landscapes and cultural heritage are woven into the design. Rugged mountains showcase its breathtaking terrain, while Taipei 101 and the Alishan railway reflect the country's blend of modernity and tradition. The ocean base represents Taiwan's global connections, reinforcing a spirit of collaboration and outreach.

This logo is a powerful tribute to Taiwan's beauty, culture, and the shared mission of veterinary professionals worldwide—building bridges for a future of limitless possibilities.

  • Our Theme

"Building Bridges: Empowering Future Veterinarians for a Borderless World"

This theme highlights the importance of collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity in veterinary education and practice. By fostering connections among veterinary professionals across borders, it aims to create a more unified and resource-rich global veterinary community.

The event will emphasize accessible learning, cross-cultural knowledge exchange, and leadership development, empowering future veterinarians to tackle global health challenges with creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to One Health.

Highlight of Congress Activities

General Assembly Sessions

The General Assembly (GA) is when members gather to discuss and decide the future of IVSA.

During the GA, members vote on important issues and make decisions impacting IVSA's position when advocating for veterinary students.

The GA also plays a crucial role in the election of the next teams of IVSA officials, who will be responsible for the organisation's operations in the upcoming year.

During the congress, we vote for the Executive Committee (except the president) and the officials.

The GA elects host for the annual congresses and symposia during the two annual meetings held 1.5 years in advance.

Lectures & Workshop

Multiple lectures and workshops will take place during the congress. Keep an eye out on our socials to discover all of them!

International Stands

The International Stands is the perfect opportunity for our delegates to showcase their MOs/LCs and universities.

Every country has its stand where they can inform other delegates of the different opportunities their MO offers.

This is the perfect opportunity to find a new externship place or a new partner to do a Group Exchange!

Cultural Evening

The cultural evening is an enrichment moment where the delegates can share their culture and learn about others. We ask the delegates to bring typical food and drinks from their country for the cultural evening. Also, traditional clothes and traditional dances/games are widely appreciated.

All delegates can then go from one table to another to learn more about the different countries, their traditions, and cultures at the congress.

MO Meeting

This meeting, organized by the Member Organization Director (MOD), serves as a platform for information sharing among onboard members of the Member Organization (MO). It aims to strengthen communication and collaboration between IVSA Global and the MOs, as well as foster meaningful discussions among MOs themselves.

During the meeting, we will address various topics and challenges MOs may encounter in their operations. We will provide guidance on effective organization and event management while answering any questions you may have about running your MO successfully.

ERO Workshop

This workshop, led by the External Relations Officer (ERO) or another relevant IVSA official, is designed to equip your MO with effective strategies for securing sponsorships and partnerships. It provides practical methods and insights to help you identify, approach, and establish successful collaborations with potential sponsors and partners.

Live & Silent Auction

Live Auction

The live auction is one of the two auctions carried out to generate funds for the Development Fund (DF).

We ask our delegates to donate an item from their country. This can be anything, for example, traditional clothes or pottery, everything is welcomed.

The auction starts, and any delegate can bid for the items. The last person to bid wins the item.

The whole amount collected during this activity goes to the Development Fund.

The DF allows many IVSA members to benefit from scholarships and grants. It also provides financial aid to IVSA MOs by donating books and educational material, covering their membership fees, and sponsoring projects that align with IVSA's mission.

Silent Auction

The silent auction is the other auction for fundraising.

We ask our delegates to donate an item from their country. This can be any kind of thing, from typical non-perishable food to handicrafts. Everything is welcome!

In this activity, all our delegates walk through the different items and can start bidding by writing their bid on a paper. Once the time is over, the last person who bids on the item wins it.

The whole amount collected goes to the Development Fund.

The DF allows many IVSA members to benefit from scholarships and grants. It also provides financial aid to IVSA MOs by donating books and educational material, covering their membership fees, and sponsoring projects that align with IVSA's mission.

Formal Dinner

The Formal Dinner is a prestigious event showcasing the host country's culture through traditional attire and cuisine. It fosters networking among delegates, features speeches and recognitions, and adheres to a formal dress code, creating an elegant atmosphere for cultural exchange and professional camaraderie.

White T-Shirt Party

The White T-Shirt Party will take place on our last evening. The delegates can wear or carry a white T-shirt and some pens during this activity. Then, they can go to each other and write/draw something on it.

In the end, this T-shirt will become a precious and lasting souvenir for everyone.

Our Mascot

Meet the Formosan Black Bear – Taiwan's Furry Icon! 🐻If Taiwan had a national VIP (Very Important Predator), it would be the Formosan Black Bear—our only native bear species and the official mascot of the 74th IVSA Congress Taiwan! 🎉

🖤 The Signature Look: This stylish bear rocks a distinctive V-shaped white patch on its chest—nature's own designer statement. 😎

🌲 Where They Live: These elusive forest guardians prefer Taiwan's high-altitude dense forests over city life, making sightings as rare as winning the lottery.

🍽️ Diet: No need to worry—they don't hunt tourists! 😆 These omnivores enjoy fruits, insects, acorns, and wild honey.

🐻 Lifestyle: Athletic and adventurous, these bears are expert climbers, swimmers, and foragers. Unlike other bears, they don't hibernate thanks to Taiwan's mild winters.

⚠️ Conservation Status: With fewer than 1,000 left in the wild, the Formosan Black Bear is endangered due to habitat loss and illegal hunting. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect them. 🌍💚

🎉 IVSA Taiwan's Official Mascot!

Strong, resilient, and uniquely Taiwanese—just like the incredible vet students gathered here! Keep an eye out for bear-themed souvenirs and conservation efforts as we make this congress legendary—just like our beloved Formosan Black Bear! 🐻🎊
